What is the Gospel?
The gospel is the good news that we as sinful people who deserve God’s wrath can have peace with God through the substitutionary death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. We respond to the gospel by repenting of our sin and placing our faith (trust) in Jesus Christ and His atoning work on the cross.
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:21
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Mark 1:15
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
1 John 2:2
He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
