Being Southern Baptist
Union Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church, which means that we are part of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).
The Southern Baptist Convention is a denomination of autonomous churches that voluntarily cooperate together to help fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
The churches that make up the SBC are free to govern themselves, with each church making a decision about its polity, statement of faith, leadership, etc. SBC churches are not governed from the top-down like some other denominations (see Article VI of our statement of faith). This means that SBC churches will vary somewhat from church to church with regard to theological persuasion, worship style, size, age, etc. SBC churches seek to unite around the gospel and the Great Commission.
Most SBC churches have friendly cooperation with other SBC churches on three levels:
At Union Baptist Church, we cooperate with the Liberty Baptist Association, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
We also support the work of the Conservative Baptist Network.

Cooperative Program
SBC churches cooperate through service and financial support of gospel work in our local area, our state, our nation, and our world. Southern Baptist Churches believe that we can do more together than we can alone. Thus, we work together to do gospel work through the Cooperative Program.
